There are fans and then they are super fans, also known as fangirls. Everyone has at least one celebrity or things they obsess over, whether it is music, sports, movies, actors, or anything else in pop culture that gets your heart pumping with excitement (Guilty!). For example, One Direction, “Friends,” K-Pop, “Harry Potter,” etc. However, if you are a fangirl (or boy, we do not discriminate), you may be more invested in their life than most people. And you are probably proud of it.
Fangirls spend most of their waking moments thinking about their favorite celebrity/ movie /etc. They think about it way more than normal people do. You become a family, a fandom. Not everyone is able to reach that level of enthusiasm. It takes a special breed.
Read on for the top 5 signs you may be a fangirl.
You Know Everything There Is To Know About Them
Most people may know their favorite celebrity’s full name, favorite color, family members, but fangirls know their faves deepest fears, what time they were born, what they said that one time 5 years ago about their cat, how many freckles they have, etc. It may be an unhealthy obsession and you may know more about them than they do. But it is ok because you would die for them and if you ever had to answer trivia questions, you would win.
Your Friends And Family Are Tired Of You Talking About Your Obsession
Do you know how times your family has probably rolled their eyes when you said, “Do you know what (insert obsession here) is doing today or when you quote from your favorite movie or just mention them in passing? Probably a lot. Most likely, your friends will be obsessed with the dame things, but sometimes, they may get tired of hearing that Harry Styles wore a suit today.
You Have Way Too Much Of Their Merch
Oh, your fave celeb just released a new hoodie. You already have five hoodies from them. Looks like you need another one because they are facing the opposite way on this one. Yeah, we can relate. You may have a ton of t-shirts from them, books about them, posters, keychains, CDs, and whatever other dumb little things that have their face on it because you love them and need to have it.
You Have a Stan Twitter Account
For those of your reading these, most likely baby boomers and those older than 35, stan Twitter is a community of Twitter users that post opinions related to music, celebrities, TV shows, movies, and social media. They even have their own terminology (wig, wildin’, stan, tea, locals, oomf). Good luck figuring them out.
They spend all day on Twitter posting pictures of their favorite artists, staying up to date on their lives, have their notifications on, etc. Do not mess with anyone’s favorite on stan Twitter because they will come for you.
The best part of Stan Twitter is when fans come up with theories related to album releases, etc. It is so much fun to obsess over things you like with people who feel the same way. Some of these fans become lifelong friends.
You Cry Over Them
Whether it is seeing them up close and personal in concert or crying because they have a cute dog or they announced their engagement or the band broke-up or they’re just so beautiful, you may be a fangirl if you’ve cried over them. It is ok. We have all been there. Hold out hope that you will meet them one day and do not totally break down in front of them.
If you have done one or more of these things, you are probably a fangirl! Enjoy and do not let anyone stop you from something that brings you joy.
