Top 5 Best The Boys Characters
The Boys is a huge success and is one of Amazons most watched shows. There is much that helped it towards this victory, great writing, stunning effects, fantastic acting, and above all, wonderful characters. Even though we have only got 8 episodes, I feel slightly attached to all the characters, especially the one who took the top place on this list of Best The Boys characters.
The Boys really achieve immense depth in all of the characters. So, in this list, I will be looking at the most likable. Maybe I’ll do a most complex or interesting list another day.
Best The Boys Characters #5 – Mother Milk
First of all, if that’s his real name, I need to meet his mother. I have questions. Did she like Red Hot Chilli Peppers? It most likely isn’t, but still, why has he been given that nickname?
M.M. is our resident tough cookie. He’s the sweetest hard ass there ever was. Helping teenage juveniles get their life together, always checking on Hughie, and giving his wife those adorable phone kisses. The supes have their work cut out for them.
Best The Boys Characters #4 – Starlight
Idealistic, compassionate, and brave. Starlight is truly what a superhero should be. Her talents are definitely wasted for Vought, and thankfully as we saw in the final, it seems, that she’ll be playing for the real good guys.
Starlight is also a great role model for kids. (Not that kids should watch The Boys). She has shown that she is unafraid to stand up for herself and for others. She overcame a great deal in the series, and despite it all, she remained herself and didn’t become numb or corrupted.
#3 – Billy Butcher
He’s not a bad guy, but he’s not necessarily a nice guy. Consumed by revenge Billy has lost himself and is no longer really just a human. His anger makes him a worthy rival for Homelander.
The small moments of vulnerability that we see in Billy make him an incredibly lovable character. His obvious love for his wife, his callous regard for his well-being, and his English charm.
I really want Billy to be happy, and maybe there is a small chance that it could happen. I mean, his wife is alive, but the unanswered questions that are left could have devastating for him.
#2 – Hughie
Hughie is a good lad.
I really enjoyed watching him, the exploration of his trauma and grief was perfect, showing how much it can affect your life. I think that the show dealt with his experience beautifully. Hughie is a very relatable, endearing character. He shows that even if we think we are unable to do something, we can. Maybe don’t fully follow his example and blow someone up, but if you have a passion, if you want something, if you see an injustice in the world, you can do something about it.
Also, I almost gave his dad a place on this list. And if they hurt him on the show, I will riot. He made me wish I had a relationship with my dad. Was that too real?
Best The Boys Characters #1 – Frenchie
And now finally we come to the best of them all. Mon Coeur. Considering he has a past as a killer for hire, Frenchie has the biggest heart of all the boys, showing empathy in surprising moments.
Connecting with The Female, relating to her past trauma, taking care of her and rooting for her, despite the others’ doubts. They develop a beautiful connection.
Along with M.M. he looks after Hughie and makes sure he is ok. Honestly though, most of the character take Hughie under their wing. Calling him Petit Hughie, which works, despite Hughie’s height.
Now we have to wait a whole year. An entire year until I see Frenchie’s smile, until I see Starlight kick butt again, and hear Billy’s sass. Time better go quickly, because I need to know what happens next. And I need more of Anthony Starrs acting, I couldn’t put Homelander in this list because he’s awful. But the acting was next level.
