Top 5 Best Superhero Movie Sequels
Superhero movies have exploded over the last twenty years and there are plenty to go around. There are great ones, good ones and of course the bad ones; but these are the best sequels that more than surpass their originals. Let’s begin the countdown of the best superhero movie sequels that must be viewed multiple times because we love them that much!
Best Superhero Movie Sequels #5 – Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Steve Rogers is no longer a man who’s fighting the Nazis in World War II. Instead he crashed and remained frozen in time and woke up in the modern world. The world is a different place, new allies are made and Cap is thoroughly confused at how the world has changed. He’s lost some old friends but not everything is completely gone, The Winter Soldier is on the loose and has more of a connection to Cap that originally thought. With a smart script, great direction and some impressive action sequences, The Winter Soldier is an impressive sequel and continuing story for Captain America. While Civil War was better, this story was unique in bringing an old idea of a World War II soldier on the front lines of modern warfare.
Best Superhero Movie Sequels #4 – Avengers Infinity War
All of our favorite heroes face their greatest threat – the mighty Thanos! He seeks out the Infinity Stones which could wipe out half of the population in the Universe and all that stands between him are our Avengers. While the Avengers are not completely together following Civil War, the lines are drawn in the sand and the battle is set. Thanos is a very interesting character who we come to understand yet don’t agree with, he isn’t just some evil villain who wants to rule the world. He’s broken too and his goal is to fix the problem no matter the cost. Impressive special effects and action, a deep emotional story and an ending that shocked audience but left them eager for part two! Avengers Infinity War is an intense ride that’s worth watching multiple times!
Best Superhero Movie Sequels #3 – Logan
Forget all the silly characters in the X-Men franchise and instead opt for a deep and at times depressing story of Wolverine whose seen better days. He may not fight Magneto anymore but his time with Professor X is a tale that’s unforgettable. Throw in the little girl who Wolverine takes care of, and you have a road story that’s filled with bloody violence, shocking revelations and an ending that made grown men shed some tears. Logan was brutal yet heartbreaking at the same time and we’ll never forget it.
#2 – Spiderman 2
What does it take to be a hero? Spiderman 2 asks a lot of questions in this deeper story of who we are as a person. Featuring one of the best villains, Dr. Octopus and great action, this movie is more about the choices we make instead of just special effects. Director Sam Raimi crafts a brilliant film that makes good use of its villain, more fun with the Daily Bugle and the struggle of Peter Parker who has to decide who he will be. A man who loves Mary Jane or the web-slinging hero of New York City. Fast-paced, exciting and still the best Spiderman movie ever made, this is the one we all remember very well.
#1 – The Dark Knight
This isn’t a superhero movie but more like a gritty crime thriller. The Dark Knight features an Oscar winning performance by the late Heath Ledger as The Joker, a psychopathic deranged madman who’s taken the city of Gotham hostage and tests Batman like never before. With excellent writing, pure tension for its entire runtime and a great soundtrack; The Dark Knight is basically a movie about how life will affect you when it hits you in the face. This is the superhero film that should’ve been considered for a Best Picture Oscar but wasn’t. With great action, memorable moments and a truly menacing performance by Ledger, The Dark Knight has secured its place in movie history as one of the Best Films Ever Made. In a word, it’s simply…Epic.
