Top 5 Saddest Scenes From Avengers: Endgame
Since it was released, Avengers: Endgame has become the world’s highest grossing movie ever, beating the previous record holder, Avatar. It is a movie that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster from moments with tears of joy to heartbreaking scenes. Endgame perfectly pulls from its character’s very sentimental beats both big and small. It even begins with one of the simplest yet most tear-jerking scenes. Here is a look into some of the saddest tearful scenes in Avengers Endgame.
Avengers Endgame Saddest Scenes #5 – Hawkeye losing his family in the snap
As a result of the giant alien, Thanos, snapping half of the world’s population out of existence with a bejeweled goblet, Hawkeye’s family disappeared on the spot as they were having what seemed like a happy normal day. He is left alone in his family home with no wife nor children. What could be more heartbreaking than a father calling onto his family who he was just talking to a few moments ago and they are nowhere to be seen?
Avengers Endgame Saddest Scenes #4 – Death of Black Widow
In order to retrieve one of the stones from Vormir, Natasha gave herself as a sacrifice to save the rest of humanity. Her relationship with Clint had been tested throughout the series and this was the payoff. With them being the ones in the team without any powers, this looked more like a wrap for her in the series. More importantly, it is one of the most selfless acts that were committed by a character who was known to be self-serving and out for her survival.
#3 – Tony Stark gets a chance to say goodbye to his dad
If you have any relationship issues with either or both of your parents, this will ultimately send you to tears. Tony’s father, Howard, is known to have shadowed Tony’s entire arc and due to this, the two never had a great relationship. When Howard found Iron Man sneaking around the base, the two got a chance to talk about fatherhood. They talked about Tony’s fear of being an absentee parent like his father was. He then learned that Howard loved him despite his work taking him away so often. As they parted ways, Tony Stark could not help but hug his dad and he thanked him for the chat. This served as the goodbye that they never had before Howard’s untimely death.
#2 – Thor tries to save his mother, Frigga
When Thor returned to Asgard in 2013 to retrieve one of the stones, he went back to just a few moments before the murder of his mother. Frigga discovered his presence there despite his attempt to hide it and they shared a brief goodbye moment. They talked about his guilt over his inability to stop Thanos. She then told him that it wasn’t about who he was supposed to be but rather more about who he was. In other words, his failure did not define who he was and he still had the chance to save the world.
Thor was helpless to stop his mother’s murder and even she knew that there was no use in trying to change the past. In this scene, Thor also realized that he was still worthy when he called Mjolnir and he answered his call meaning that HE was still a good man and could handle the hammer.
#1 – Iron Man’s death saving the world
I saved the best for last. Like Natasha’s death, Iron Man sacrificed himself so that he could fire off the Infinity Gauntlet with one last snap and erase Thanos and his Comrades. It was one big dramatic moment in the Avengers: Endgame as it was the ultimate sacrifice. His death came at a time when he had everything to lose and he still put it all on the line for the greater good. This action ended the war and restored humanity but left everyone in tears as Tony took his last breaths.
The Avengers: Endgame is one of the most successful movies adapted from comic books. It’s a must-watch but have some tissues close by since you will need them. There are more sad moments in the movie than were mentioned above, like when Iron Man’s daughter asked for a cheeseburger, the same thing her dad had asked for in the first Iron Man after returning from Afghanistan.
