Top 5 Artists We Hope Get Grammy Nomination Next Year
It was just announced that the Grammy’s deadline for 2021 is September 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020. The awards are supposed to be held on January 31, 2021, but with the pandemic, who knows if that date will stick.
There has been one thing getting us all through this quarantine and that is music. Over the past 9 months, some incredible songs and albums have come out that definitely deserve to be nominated for a Grammy.
Some of these songs and albums feel like they came out a long time ago, but it was merely only months ago, and they will be eligible for next year’s Grammy’s.
Here are the top 5 artists we hope to get nominated for a Grammy.
“Lose You To Love Me” by Selena Gomez – Song / Record of the Year
Last October, Selena Gomez shook the world with her comeback single. “LYTLM” is a very powerful ballad that connected with a lot of people, whether it was because of a break-up, a toxic friend, or just a situation that you needed to get out of, Gomez connected to everyone. Her comeback album, “Rare” dropped in January of this year and it definitely should be considered for Album of the Year. Hopefully, she can earn her first nomination and win.
“Fine Line” by Harry Styles – Album of the Year
Harry Styles released his sophomore solo album in December of last year. “Fine Line” has sparked singles such as “Watermelon Sugar,” “Adore You,” Lights Up,” and “Falling.” From start to finish, the album is a masterpiece and deserves to win for Album of the Year. We will be bopping to it next year on tour. Also, the singles deserve Song / Record of the Year. Styles has never received a Grammy nomination, with One Direction or on his own, so hopefully, this will put him on the ballot.
“Rain on Me” by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande – Song of the Year / Best Pop Collaboration
Two of pop’s biggest female singers released the collaboration in May. The song has played on commercials, on the radio, and on many people’s phones. The song hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a month straight. “Rain on Me” is featured on Gaga’s sixth studio album, “Chromatica,” alongside the other single, “Stupid Love.” Gaga has been nominated and won multiple times before.
“The Man” by Taylor Swift – Best Music Video, Song of the Year
Taylor Swift has had some iconic music videos in her career. “The Man” music video came out in February and shocked everyone when Swift was revealed as the lead in the video, dressed as a man. The song was released as the fourth single from her seventh studio album, “Lover.” Swift has earned multiple nominations and wins before, including Album of the Year twice, but this song would be great to take home an award for because she owns it and it shows that she really is THE MAN.
“Heartbreak Weather” by Niall Horan – Album of the Year
Let me tell you, there is not one skip on this album. From start to end, it tells a story and it has you dancing, crying, falling in love, and rocking out. “Heartbreak Weather” is Horan’s second solo studio album. You can hear this masterpiece live next year on tour. Horan has yet to receive a Grammy nomination, with One Direction or by himself. He may be up against former bandmate, Harry Styles, in some of the same categories because they’ve both had singles worthy of being nominated.
Good luck to all of the contenders! Thank you for making iconic music and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings.
