Top 5 Artists Who Released An Album and Didn’t Tour
When an artist releases an album, half of the fun of it is waiting to see if they announce tour dates. 98% of the time they do and then you can listen to the album on repeat to learn the songs for when you see them live. (I know you do that because I do that too).
Artists who tour to support their albums usually get more number ones and have a better chance of their album doing well. When artists who haven’t released an album in years come out with their comeback album (we’re looking at your Jonas Brothers), it is almost expected that they tour. Here are the top 5 artists who released albums and did not tour afterwards but should have.
Hilary Duff – “Breathe In. Breathe Out”
In 2015, Hilary Duff released her fifth studio album, “Breathe In. Breathe Out.” It was her comeback album and fans were excited. She hadn’t released an album since 2007 (“Dignity”). Fans were expecting a comeback tour after all these years, but sadly it did not happen. Especially since the album charted in the top 5 on the Billboard 200 Chart. Duff expressed that she was a single mother and was filming the second season of “Younger” and simply could not tour. However, now married to record producer and singer, Matthew Koma, Duff seems to be getting back into the music game. Maybe we will get another album and the tour we deserve.
Miley Cyrus – “Younger Now”
Cyrus has not toured since 2014 for her “Bangerz” album. Since then, Cyrus has released two musical projects, “Younger Now” and the EP “She Is Coming.” She did not tour for either of them. However, it is rumored that “She Is Miley Cyrus” is coming this year. So maybe, fans might finally get the tour they’ve been hoping for. Cyrus expressed to Howard Stern in 2018 that she isn’t touring because she had to take care of her pigs. She has gone through a tough year with her divorce from Liam Hemsworth, so we can forgive her.
Ashley Tisdale – “SYMPTOMS”
“SYMPTOMS” was Tisdale’s third studio and her return to music after ten years. The album was only released digitally and charted in the top 100 on Billboard’s Top Current Albums. At the time of the album release, Tisdale told FORBES that she would love to tour for “SYMPTOMS” but was filming her Netflix series, “Merry, Happy Whatever” at the time. The album was released last May and still no tour, so it doesn’t look promising.
Selena Gomez- “Rare”
“Rare” was Selena Gomez’s comeback album after 2015’s “Revival.” Many critics and fans said it may be her best album to date. She broke the internet with her single, “Lose You to Love Me.” Gomez spoke with Extra at the premiere of “DoLittle’ about touring. Gomez said, “We are still figuring it out. I love being able to see my fans.” She has not announced anything, two months after the album was released, but also teased fans that more is to come, so maybe, she is just preparing herself. Gomez has struggled with some health problems, so maybe is afraid to tour because of that.
Taylor Swift- “Lover”
While Swift will embark on LoverFest this Summer, hopefully, she is not doing a full tour. She is only performing in two US states with a few international dates thrown in. The reason is because her mom, Andrea, has been battling cancer and she wants to be able to be by her side if need be, which is totally understandable. It is nice that Swift is even doing those few dates due to her situation.
