Top 5 XFL Team Names, Logos and Promo Videos
It’s been announced for quite a while now that wrestling personality Vince McMahon will be heading up his second attempt at the XFL football league in 2020. There has been a lot of talk of who would play in this alternative to the NFL but just as much talk has gone into where the teams are located and what they will be called. Recently we got answers to those questions as the league announced the 8 teams of the XFL. So now with that information out to fans, here are 5 top XFL team names, logos and promo videos.
XFL Team Names and Logos #5 – New York Guardians
This image sure beats the New York/New Jersey Hitmen team from the original XFL. While the Hitmen made most fans familiar with wrestling remember Bret Hart and the WWE’s history with him, this logo has what looks like a cat. But in watching the video introducing the team same you see that it is more like stone gargoyles like those a top of many New York City buildings. Let’s hope the team lives up to the name and guards that goal line.
XFL Team Names and Logos #4 – St. Louis BattleHawks
A city that gets an XFL team for the first time with the Battlehawks. While it sounds more like a name used for the old American Basketball league the video paints an image of a Hawks that looks for its prey while patrolling the skies. One would hope there is a lot of yardage and long passes of the football with that kind of imagery. Hopefully, fans won’t chat “Tweety Bird” during the games.
#3 – Seattle Dragons
The image of a dragon flying overhead of the city in the Pacific Northwest is pretty powerful to carry onto the field. When you think of that name your head carries images of dragons we have seen throughout the years. The logo drives the point home that these are the fire breathing kind of dragons. While the Seattle area is mostly known for grudge rock and coffee, this has a more European sense of a team image.
#2 – DC Defenders
The logo looks amazing but is Washington D.C. known for being a defender? This sounds more like a name for a border city team. Never the less, the Washington D.C. team does look (and sound) better than it’s NFL counterpart, the Redskins. The logo looks a lot like the logo Seth Rollins wears on Monday Night wrestling, but outside of that, it brings about the image of a tough force that will defend their area.
#1 – Dallas Renegades
The actual logo looks a heck of a lot cooler than the pictures of the biker clubs or rodeos that the video imagined. This logo looks like something that a team from the old Blitz: The League video game from the original Xbox would have. That is why I like it. This isn’t some stars and stripes laden team to inspire fans with images of America or being patriotic. I’m pretty sure that it’s an undead cowboy and THAT is the kind of image I want a team to have. This is by far the best of the XFL team names and logos.
