Dancers are unique people. They form bonds no one else understands. They can move in positions others dream of and they create art that allows them to express themselves. Eventually, most people leave their dance studio and dance altogether. It may be because of school, work, moving, or just life in general.
You are always a dancer even if you don’t participate anymore. Here are the top 5 things dancers miss when they quit dancing.
Costumes

As expensive as they are and as itchy as they are, dancers love dressing up in head to toe sequins. Costumes are what makes the performance most of the time and when they arrive it’s always so much fun rehearsing in them.
There were some costumes you didn’t like but still put a smile on your face and got on stage. It was a big deal if all the costumes were different colors and you didn’t get the one you wanted.
Seeing Your Friends

Dance friends are truly forever friends. They are the best. Dance friends understand each other like no one else can. They have seen each other when you look the worst after an all-day practice and don’t judge you for it. They know the passion, struggle, and hard work that goes into it.
Dance friends just grow to be a family. Going to class every week guaranteed you would see your besties. You always had something to talk about and loved taking selfies on breaks.
The Escape

There truly is no better feeling than getting lost to a piece of music. When you dance, it’s like the world around you disappears, but really you are doing what you love in front of a crowd of people. It is difficult to find the same kind of rush dancing in front of others gave you.
Feeling stressed? Dance. Feeling sad? Dance. Feeling anything or nothing? Dance. It helps you forget about your worries for a bit and you are getting a workout in the process.
Being Flexible

Did you ever just sit in front of the TV and stretch in a position no one could ever do and your family never understood it? Were you the only person who could touch their toes in gym class? Then you are/were probably a dancer. Dancing makes you very flexible and when you haven’t done it in a while, that tends to go away.
However, the chronic pain you feel years afterwards is something dancers could live without. You will spend forever cracking your toes and experiencing random pains all over.
Dancing

The simple art of dancing is probably what you miss the most. You can’t remember what you had for breakfast today, but you can remember the kick combination you did in the jazz number five years ago. When you work on something all the time, it becomes ingrained in your memory.
Hopefully, dance class is something you can get back to soon because you know you miss it. Don’t forget to point your toes.
