Top 5 must watch NSYNC live performances
*NSYNC celebrated their 25th anniversary on October 1, 2020. NSYNC, consisting of Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, and JC Chasez, formed in Orlando, FL, twenty-five years ago.
They skyrocketed to fame in Germany and Europe before becoming one of the biggest boybands of all-time internationally. *NSYNC set the records for fastest- selling album in a week for their sophomore release, “No Strings Attached.” That record was beaten by Adele in 2015. The band released three albums and went on an indefinite hiatus in 2002.
Since then, the members have all embarked on solo careers and become family men. Just because they are broken up does not mean we forget about them and their show-stopping performances.
Let’s live through some nostalgia and revisit NSYNC’s top 5 performances.
Super Bowl Halftime Show
Joined by Aerosmith and Britney Spears, NSYNC performed at the Superbowl Halftime Show in 2001. Three of the most popular artists of that time, this Halftime show was one for the books. Nelly and Mary J. Blige even made appearances. That might be one of the best halftime shows of all-time. Justin performed at the Halftime Show 17 years later to promote his “Man of the Woods” album.
Justin stopped the hearts of everyone when he reunited NSYNC for 2 minutes. Before winning the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in 2013, Timberlake performed a medley of his biggest hits. Of course, he wouldn’t have been where he was in his career without his four brothers. The best part: “Let’s show these young guys how to do it.”
Sorry, One Direction, but *NSYNC puts on a show.
Coachella was a lifelong dream of the guys and it came true, with Ariana Grande, no less! Sadly, Timberlake was not present for the performance as he was wrapping up the last show of his Man of The Woods tour. Grande samples NSYNC’s song, “It Makes Me Ill,” in her hit, “break up with ur girlfriend, i’m bored.” She is a huge fan of theirs so it was a dream all around. Maybe one day all five of them can be back on that stage for their reunion.
MTV Video Music Awards 2000
This may be one of their most iconic and memorable performances. It was pretty high- tech for 2000. They sang and danced to “This I Promise You,” “Bye, Bye, Bye” and “It’s Gonna Be Me” with a bunch of female dancers around them. They showed everybody how a boyband is supposed to perform and had everyone up on their feet.
MTV Awards 2001
Michael Jackson shocked the crowd when he came out for a surprise performance during NSYNC performing “Pop” at the 2001 MTV Awards. It was only fitting since he was the King of Pop. The boys, dressed in the best 2000’s fashion, looked almost just as shocked as everyone else was. This performance, although short, was definitely one to remember.
