Pop culture subscription boxes are truly a gift. They bring joy and smiles to every fanboy and fangirl. No matter big or small, old or young, a pop culture subscription box is exciting for everyone. Movie geeks and TV junkies alike can come together and subscribe to one of the suggested companies in order to receive the happiness these boxes bring.
Pop Culture Subscription Boxes: LootCrate
Established in 2012, LootCrate is one of the most popular pop culture subscription boxes in the market. The creators, Chris Davis and Matthew Arevallo wanted to create a “comic con in a box” which is the best way to describe what the box holds.
Each box has pop culture memorabilia and is sent out monthly. The monthly boxes are themed and can range from anime to gaming, and sometimes the company even teams up with major entertainment companies like DC Comics and Nintendo. Loot Crate has expanded into other subscriptions like LootCrateDX, LootWear and LootRemix.
With LootWear you’ll receive pop culture apparel like t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, socks, underwear, and more.
LootRemix is a mystery box every month! You’ll never know what you will get which can be good or bad.
The LootCrateDX is much more expensive because it’s tailored for the “pop culture connoisseur.” But basically it’s just a bigger box with more items in it.
Pop Culture Subscription Boxes: Nerdy Post
Nerdy Post is really cool because in each box you’ll receive items that are fanmade. These products can be anything from hand-drawn designs or beautifully written quotes. The cool thing about Nerdy Post is that it’s not just movie and tv items, they show love to literature too. The theme for Nerdy Post in August is “Pride and Prejudice.”
I really like that you can skip a box if you’re not into the theme that is announced for that month. You also have the option to build your own boxes or just purchase items individually. Like LootCrate, you are able to subscribe to different kinds. Nerdy Post has additional options–Nerdy Post Lite, Nerdy Post Tees and Ultimate Nerdy Post. If you don’t want to just spend money on one particular kind, you can also subscribe to a combo which combines all of those into one.
Funko Collectible Boxes
Funko Collectible Boxes appeal to several different fandoms, including Marvel, Disney, Star Wars and DC Comics. These boxes consist of the same scenarios but obviously differ in themes. Meaning every box you get is filled with Funko Fun no matter what the theme is.
I like these boxes because I love the Funko brand! Not only do the boxes include Funko Pops but every now and then you’ll get a Funko Rock Candy collectible. I also appreciate that they don’t give you the same kind of item. For example, in January, the theme was X-Men. Inside included a Funko Pop of the Original Angel and a Rock Candy collectible of the Dark Phoenix and a pen with a Funko Pop Wolverine on top. The ten year anniversary box included different items like a Funko Movie Moment of Iron Man vs Whiplash, a golden Hulk Pez dispenser, and two golden Funko Dorbz collectibles of Thor and Thanos.
I appreciate the fact that they spread the love to various Funko items no matter which fandom you’ve subscribed to.
Disney Dreamers Box
This subscription is solely for the Disney lovers. Disney Dreamers Box contains collectibles, jewelry, books, and even coffee! Like the other subscriptions, Disney Dreamers has different kinds of boxes you can subscribe to that vary in the kinds of items you get and the quantity of items in each box. When choosing a box you can select if you’d prefer a girl’s box or guy’s box.
The Ultimate Dreamers Box contains four to 10 collectibles. In the Lion King box, you will receive a photo frame of movie shots from the animated film, a small plush of Simba from Emoji Blitz, a Simba Funko Pop and a Simba figurine by Enesco.
The Disney Dreamers even made a box for the coffee lovers! This unique box comes with a coffee mug, pertaining to the month’s theme, a book and coffee from Disney resorts! Disney Dreamers Box start at $39.95
Revisit the 90s with Nostalgia Crate and receive toys, games and collectibles regularly from the years 1990 to 2009! Nostalgia Crate has 10 different boxes to choose from that vary in prices. The cheapest box you can get is the Trading CartCrate that starts at $5.00. This box comes with two trading card packs and six card sleeves of five cards. With the Trading Card Crate you can select your genre or and franchise.
For some of the more expensive crates, the folks at Nostalgia Crate will email you each month asking what you’d like in your box, so it’s completely customizable.
Each Nostalgia Crate comes with throwback toys and games.
If you’re looking for a comic subscription box you can sign up for the ComiCrate starting at $5. Each package comes with several comic books from your favorite publishers.
Once you’ve picked your box, you have to create a month-to-month plan ranging from once a month, every six months and every 12 months.
