Top 5 Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Maps
With the announcement of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare being huge news for the gaming industry and fans of the franchise, one question remains. Will Modern Warfare 2 be remastered just like Call of Duty 4 was? It’s been a year-long rumor that has been talked about and something that fans desperately want. Modern Warfare 2 was the sequel we all waited for and now that its ten years old this year (released on November 10, 2009) let’s countdown the five most memorable and iconic multiplayer maps. This will not include any DLC, only included maps at launch will be mentioned.
Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Maps #5 – Rust

The smallest map available takes its design from the ending of the campaign where we can see part of this map in the background. A spiritual successor to Call of Duty 4’s Shipment map, Rust is actually a bit larger. With little cover available it can be a bad day for anyone once air support is called in. The AC-130, Chopper Gunner and almost any airstrike will certainly strike fear into the enemy team. Close-quarters combat is the name of the game and although it’s usually avoided so players can play bigger maps, Rust is definitely unforgettable.
Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Maps #4 – Wasteland

A large wide-open map that is meant for snipers and long-ranged gunfights. With the Chernobyl Power Plant seen in the background, there are radioactive thermal pockets located on the outside edges of the map that will kill the player if they get too far. A couple of houses and a large bunker make for little protection once the big killstreaks come out to play but one cool note to mention is once the Tactical Nuke is activated, the number “4” reactor will blow up too, a clear reference to the 1986 Chernobyl Disaster. Although this is a remake of the Brecourt Map seen in Call of Duty 2, you can’t forget this map and all its glory!
#3 – Scrapyard

An airplane graveyard that no matter what game mode you play, you’ll be in for a chaotic time. With numerous buildings, airplane cavities and hangars to hide in, there really is no best way to approach Scrapyard. Running headfirst with a shotgun, supplying yourself with an RPG when going after an objective or just sniping from a vantage point, Scrapyard is a fan favorite because of all the variety that comes with it. It’s very similar to Highrise, another fan favorite, but Scrapyard is smaller. That Chopper Gunner will work, but you may have to wait while it flies to the map to wreak havoc.
#2 – Afgan

Another sniper favorite map and great for Ground War Domination, Afghan has been remade twice but nothing beats the one that started it all. Featuring a down C-130 in the middle of the map which can provide some cover, the map is features a large cave, two bunkers where most of the snipers go and a hill at the tail end of the plane that offers some great moments. Afghan is a map that no one dares skip in favor of something else.
#1 – Terminal

No map gets the crowd more excited than this one! Terminal is based off the controversial campaign mission “No Russian” which shocked people when they first played it. As a multiplayer map it’s truly the best. From running to the plane, holding down at Burger Town or spawn trapping the enemy at the “A” flag, Terminal is a map that everyone wants to play no matter the game mode. All the killstreaks work here unless you’re inside trying to call in an emergency airdrop! Whether you’re sniping, laying down suppressive fire down the hallway, or just running around crazy, Terminal is the map that made Modern Warfare the iconic game that is still is today. No one skips Terminal, it’s just a gaming rule!
Terminal is easily at the top of the list for Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer maps.
