Top 5 Creepy Shows To Watch On Netflix Right Now

Posted on June 7, 2019

Its summertime! While some people are traveling to the beach, sun bathing in the outdoors, or going on adventures, others (like myself) enjoy the comfort of Netflix during the hot summer months. To combat the sweltering heat of the summer, watch these top five creepy shows that are bound to send a chill down your spine.

#5 – Mindhunter

Who doesn’t love drama series based on real events? The Netflix series Mindhunter follows FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench as they create the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit and establish a process for using criminal psychology to understand the minds of serial killers. Be forewarned, the show gets really dark and twisted at points, which can leave you no matter how old, crying for your mom.

#4 – Dark Tourist

Everyone is a little bit weird, right? Depending on how you look at it, some of us can be weird and others can be down right strange. In Dark Tourist, Filmmaker David Farrier travels the world to find people and tourism spots that are taboo and unusual. From a woman in Wisconsin that is obsessed with serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer to a museum in the UK dedicated to everything bizarre, Dark Tourist will leave you feeling uneasy about being a human in this weird world.

#3 – Casting Jonbenet

Perhaps one of the most high-profile unsolved murders of all time, the murder of JonBenét Ramsey is puzzling, bizarre, and creepy. If you are unfamiliar with the case, six-year old JonBenét Ramsey was found dead in the basement of her home eight hours after she was initially reported missing. With no evidence of a break in but a ransom note, the case has left people yearning for the truth for over 20 years. Netflix’s documentary, Casting JonBenét focuses on how the case created a national obsession of trying to figure out who killed her.

#2 – Making a Murderer

Everything is not always as it seems. One of the most popular Netflix docu-series, Making a Murderer follows the story of Steven Avery, a man who was wrongly convicted of sexual assault and attempted murder, for which he served 18 years in prison. After being exonerated by DNA evidence in 2003, Steven was looking to live a normal life, until the disappearance of a young photographer placed him as the prime suspect.

#1 – Abducted in Plain Sight

If you like weird true stories with lots of twists and turns, Abducted in Plain Sight is right up your alley. The documentary is told from the point of view of Jan Broberg, who was coerced, brainwashed, and abducted (twice) from her home by her unsuspecting neighbor, Robert Berchtold in the 1970s. How did she get abducted, twice? You’ll have to watch to find out.

Are you ready to dive deep into the creepy world of Netflix shows? If you are, be sure to keep a light on to ward off the boogieman.
