Top 5 ‘Friends’ Episodes

Posted on June 21, 2019

“Friends,” The TV show ended 15 years ago, but is still a cult classic. Fans still wear merchandise from the show, recite hilarious lines, and wish for a revival. It was nominated for 62 Emmy Awards and is considered one of the greatest shows of all time.

That being said, it is nearly impossible to pick a favorite episode of “Friends,” but we narrowed it down to 5 that you must watch over and over again.

#5 – “The One With the Cop” – Season 5, Episode 16

Joey has a dream about Monica and is convinced he is in love with her. Monica assures him it was just a dream and that he probably wants a relationship like theirs because they were friends first. Joey tries to hit on Rachel. Phoebe finds a police badge in Central Perk and goes on a spree on arrests until eventually she runs into the owner of the badge. Ross is trying to buy a new couch for his apartment and because the delivery charge is so high, and he lives three blocks away, he decides him, and Rachel can carry it on their own. This results in the legendary PIVOT! Line.

#4 – “The One with the Embryos”- Season 4, Episode 12

Although this episode is named for Phoebe carrying her brother and sister-in-law’s babies, the part that is remembered most is the apartment Jeopardy. Ross moderated the game between Chandler and Joey vs. Rachel and Monica, in the hopes that they switch apartments. When Rachel and Monica cannot figure out ‘what is Chandler Bing’s job? (a running gag throughout the series), the girls wind up having to move into the boys’ apartment and the boys come riding into their new home on a white dog.

#3 – “The Last One” or “The One Where They Say Goodbye” – Season 10, Episodes 17 and 18

One of the greatest finales of all time, “The Last One” made you laugh, cry, and left you wanting more. Monica and Chandler adopt twins and move into a new home. Ross finally admits his feelings for Rachel after she accepts a fashion job in Paris, which leads to the heart wrenching line, “I got off the plane.” It ends with all six friends leaving their keys at the apartment and sharing one last cup of coffee at Central Perk.

#2 – “The One with the Proposal”- Season 6, Episodes 24 and 25

In part one, Ross questions his relationship with Elizabeth and realizes that she may be too young for him after he sees her engage in a college water balloon fight. Rachel takes Joey and Phoebe to a silent auction, where Joey doesn’t understand and winds up winning a sailboat that he can’t pay for. Chandler tells Monica he is not ready to settle down in hopes of her not suspecting the proposal, but then Monica runs into Richard who changes his mind and wants to be with her. The Friends ultimately wind up telling Monica about Chandler’s plan to propose and he winds up back at the apartment, where Monica is down on one knee ready to propose. She gets emotional and says, “There’s a reason girls don’t do this.” Chandler then gets on her level and delivers one of the most beautiful proposals in TV history. If you didn’t cry at this moment, you are lying.

#1 – “The One Where Everybody Finds Out”- Season 5, Episode 14

Monica and Chandler kept their relationship a secret from the gang for a long time in the fear of it not working out and everyone disapproving, especially Ross. Joey knew, but the rest didn’t. When they overhear a conversation on the phone between the couple, Phoebe tries to “seduce” Chandler, which ultimately leads to him giving in and admitting, for the first time, that he loves Monica. This episode also gave us the iconic, “They don’t know that we know they know we know.” Ross eventually finds out and accepts that his best friend and his sister are in a serious relationship.
