Disney has reimagined many of their classic animated movies and turned them into live-action films. 2019 is a big year for these adaptations from “Aladdin” to “The Lion King.” Disney is planning many more of these in the upcoming years including “Lady and the Tramp,” “Mulan,” and “Lilo and Stitch.”

#5 – Maleficent (2014)

Based off of the villian from the movie, “Sleeping Beauty” (1959), “Maleficent” tells the origin story of one of the most popular Disney villains. Angelina Jolie is set to reprise her role for the sequel, “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil,” this October.
#4 – Cinderella (2015)

Despite taking out the live singing, “Cinderella” is one of the best live-action Disney movies. The animation really brought the movie to life. It’s the classic story we all know and love while adding in some background information we never knew before. The film starred Lily James, Richard Madden, Cate Blanchet, Helen Bonham Carter, and more.
#3 – Aladdin (2019)

The most recent live-action movie, “Aladdin” took you to a whole new world. The 2019 film gave Jasmine more of a voice, with a solo song, ‘Speechless,’ and the courage to speak up, a very important theme to have in a movie in today’s world.
#2 – 101 Dalmatians (1996)

This may be the one film you forgot about. Glenn Close plays the underrated Cruella De Vil. Despite the puppies not talking in the live version, this version lives up to the original. A back story on De Vil, titled “Cruella,” is set to hit theaters in 2020. The movie will star Emma Stone as Cruella.
#1 – Beauty and the Beast (2017)

The casting, the singing, the storyline, everything about this movie was perfection. It stuck true to the original while adding a modern day spin to it. Emma Watson was the perfect Belle while Dan Stevens shined beside her as the Beast.
