2020 Historical Moments – COVID-19

This whole year was struck by COVID-19. We all remember where we were when the world shut down and the pandemic took over our lives. We thought, oh we’ll be locked down for maybe two weeks. Well, two weeks turned into two months and now we are still in it nearly nine months later. Top 5 Historical Moments of 2020 – Black Lives Matter Movement

When George Floyd was choked to death, the country and the world spoke up. In the past, black people have been killed and there was outrage, but this year people were tired of it and riots, protests and movements broke out around the world and the Black Lives Matter Movement started. Black people are unjustly killed and have been for years, so it was about time people stood up and did something. There was a social media blackout, one day of not posting and/ or posting a black square to show support. Just because social media has quieted down does not mean we should forget about this movement.
Joe Biden Becomes President Elect

After a historical election took place, it was decided that Joe Biden had won the election and will become president in 2021. He had the most popular votes out of any candidate for president ever. His presidency is also historical because his Vice President running mate Kamala Harris is the first black/bi-racial person to hold that title AND the first woman to hold that title. Joe Biden will take office this coming January.

The news shocked the world when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they would be giving up all of their royal titles and rights and moving to California. This caused the couple to lose their ‘royal highness’ title and public funds for their work. Their decision came after they were triggered by their unhappiness with life under public scrutiny. They do not want anything similar to happen to them or their son, Archie, that happened to Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana.
