Top 5 Jonas Brothers Songs About Mental Health

Posted on August 27, 2019

The Jonas Brothers are one of the biggest names of this decade and have released an extensive catalog of songs. Currently, on their Happiness Begins Tour, the brothers are singing songs that dedicated fans know. Even though the Jonas Brothers sing a lot about love, they have other songs that are about important topics as well, including mental health, happiness, anxiety, etc.

Here are the top 5 songs of the Jonas Brothers that talk about mental health.

Jonas Brothers Songs About Mental Health #5 – Happy When I’m Sad

This is one of the songs off their most recent album, Happiness Begins. The lyrics go, “I put on a smile, don’t need a face-lift Why can I when everybody fakes it? Well, they think I’m happy. Like they know exactly how I feel. You ain’t real, but they still fake something like. They think I’m happy when I’m sad.” These lyrics really resonate with anxiety and depression and the symptoms of those diseases. People think you’re happy in public but in the shadows by yourself, you might not be.

Jonas Brothers Songs About Mental Health #4 – Take A Breath

The brothers recently performed this as one of their fan requests on tour after a fan told them what it meant to them. “Take a Breath” is from their self-titled second studio album. The chorus goes “We’ve all been down that road before Searching for that something more Worlds are spinning ’round There’s no time for slowing down So won’t you take a breath? Just take a breath.” Sometimes when anxiety gets the best of you, you can become short of breath. Always remember that you need to stop and take a breath and the situation will get better.

#3 – A Little Bit Longer

Although this song is about Nick’s struggle with diabetes and his diagnosis, it can apply to other situations as well. From the album with the same name, “A Little Bit Longer” is a very underrated song, even though it helps a lot of people, especially the lyrics “But you don’t know what you got till it’s gone, And you don’t know what it’s like to feel so low, yeah And every time you smile, you laugh, you glow You don’t even know! yeah, oh, yeah, ohhh, yeah, yeah You don’t even know! know, know! So I’ll wait till kingdom come All the highs and lows are gone A little bit longer and I’ll be fine I’ll be fine.”

#2 – Hold On

“Cause an empty room can be so loud. It’s too many tears, drown them out. So hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on” is a strong lyric that is relatable to a lot of people. Sometimes when your mental health is challenged, even being by yourself in an empty room can become too much. The JoBros encourage their listeners to hold on through the tough times. Off their self-titled album, this was a big song to take on for just starting out their careers. It is still immensely popular today.

#1 – Paranoid

One of their most popular songs, “Paranoid,” is like “Hold On”s older brother. It’s more mature. It talks about feeling paranoid and like they don’t fit in, in a more mature way. Basically, the whole song fits the mental health category, but the opening really sticks out. “I make the most of all the stress. I try to live without regrets, But I’m about to break a sweat, I’m freakin’ out. It’s like a poison in my brain. It’s like a fog that blurs the sane. It’s like a vine you can’t untangle, I’m freakin’ out. Every time I turn around, something don’t feel right. Just might be paranoid. I’m avoiding the lines ’cause they just might split. Can someone stop the noise? I don’t know what it is, but it just don’t fit I’m paranoid.”

Songs inspire so many people and can help them deal with what they are going through, even though some of these songs might not be about what we think they are, the message that comes across is what we talk about.
