Top 5 Ways to Cope with Corona Virus and Social Distancing
2020 is certainly turning out to be interesting and we are all in unchartered territory. Staying at home might be required, and no matter how introverted you are, that won’t be easy. This crisis will take strength, but we can get through it. We live in a time where information, entertainment, and communication are right at our fingertips. Here are the top 5 ways to cope with the Corona Virus and social distancing.
Cope with Corona Virus – Get Enough Exercise
If you can’t get to the gym, or even walk around the block, this might be difficult for you. Exercise might not be your favourite thing in the world, but it is essential for you to keep your sanity and stay healthy. It will also give you something to do that will take your mind off the virus.
There are so many fantastic YouTube workout gurus, that I follow and try to keep up with. Not only will they help you work up a sweat, but they are also fun! One of my favorites is TheFitnessMarshall, He does energetic dance routines to some of the latest songs, and afterwards not only am I sweating but I feel Sassy, strong and confident.
Other great Youtubers to watch for fitness are Blogilates, jessicasmithtv and Yoga with Adriene.
Cope with Corona Virus – Stay Calm
You might be feeling anxious, and that is completely understandable, and being indoors doesn’t give you much in the way of distraction. If you don’t already, meditation is a helpful tool, to keep and overthinking mind calm, and negative thoughts quiet. There are some great apps out there for guided meditations. But you don’t need to download them if you don’t have room in your memory. YouTube has lots of videos for that too!
I’m not going to be another person to suggest a facemask and a bubble bath to calm down. All you need to do it know yourself and make time for the things that make you feel at peace. Writing down your worries in a journal is also very helpful.
Cope with Corona Virus – Keep Entertained
Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus oh my. Not only do we have great streaming services these days. We also have online entertainers, who work from home (Youtubers). If you like video games, play them. You like reading, read away!
My Lockdown fundown goal is to finish the Outer worlds, watch sex education and learn all the songs to Little Shop of Horrors.
Stay Clean
Hygiene is very important, but right now we need to be extra vigilant. This doesn’t mean scrubbing everything down with bleach. Don’t do that, but just take care of yourself.
Wipe down your surfaces a little more than you might usually and wash your hands regularly and for a decent length of time. Sneeze into your elbow, and avoid shaking people’s hands (let’s be honest, do you even like shaking hands). And avoid going to places where there are lots of people. By doing these things, we all can help prevent Corona from getting to the vulnerable.
Accomplish Your Goals
Just because we might be stuck inside for a bit, doesn’t mean we can’t get stuff done! Shakespeare wrote King Lear and Macbeth, Newton discovered Gravity. You can do anything. Write that book, play, song, screenplay! Learn that language! And when you emerge from the corona ashes, you will not only have binged some great shows, you will have accomplished some awesome stuff.
I’m using this time to finish the screenplay that I have been putting off. My cat is using this time to invent new ways of being adorable. I know someone who is going to try memorizing the entire script from the Bee movie.
I hope this list helps you to realize that Corona is just a big meanie, and he’s not going to stop you from living your best life. Life will get back to normal soon, and this will just a funny 2020 story and something that we exaggerate to our kids about. Let’s hope the second half of 2020 is fabulous, maybe we will all marry Brad Pitt, maybe we will cure cancer. Who knows?
