Top 5 Most Popular Halloween Costumes Worn This Year
Halloween 2021 is officially in the books. We are now in Christmas, and for some of us, Thanksgiving mode. But we cannot move on from this holiday without acknowledging the costumes that we saw this year.
A lot of costumes were throwbacks from the 2000s and before. You probably scrolled through Instagram and saw your friends and favorite celebrities dressed up to celebrate the holiday and a lot of them were probably in the same costumes.
Most people dress as princesses or superheroes, but being different is great. Here are the top 5 most popular Halloween costumes worn this year.
“Sing to me Paolo.” For some reason, Paolo, Isabella and Lizzie from The Lizzie McGuire Movie were very popular this year. Celebrities and everyday folk were dressing up as the duo/trio and some were even recreating the scene from the movie. It’s not known why this costume was trending this year, but we aren’t complaining. It is a simple but iconic costume.
So tell me what you want, what you really really want. We want to dress like the Spice Girls for Halloween. If you have a group of 5 or 4 people(post-Ginger), you can recreate the girl group just like many people did this year. You probably saw the leopard leotard, the UK flag, and the plain black dress that Posh wore. Being as iconic as the Spice Girls are, they are always a great idea for a group costume.
Cruella De Vil
When a movie comes out, it is usually the most popular thing that year, so it’s no wonder Cruella was a hot pick this year. Whether celebrities, like P!nk and her family recreated everyone from the live-action movies, or someone was just Cruella and a dalmatian, there were probably at least two that you saw on Halloween weekend. She is the perfect costume because she’s popular right now, but also a villain, which people usually wear on the holiday.
“Scooby-Doo, Where are you?” Celebrities and everyday folk dressed up as the Mystery Inc. gang this Halloween. Whether it was the whole gang, just Fred and Daphne, or just Shaggy and Scooby, you probably saw a lot of the mystery solving gang either at a party, on your doorstep or on Instagram.
Good 4 U if you dressed up like Olivia Rodrigo this Halloween. Whether it is recreating her album cover, her “good 4 u” music video outfits, her SOUR prom outfit, or any of her other outfits, there were so many people dressed as the pop punk queen. With only releasing her debut album this year, it is probably an honor to have so many people dress like you.
*Honorable mentions: Scarlet Witch, Dinosaurs and Disney characters.*
