So many artists have announced tours for next year and it is time to buy tickets for those events. Buying concert tickets can be an emotional rollercoaster, especially when you sign up for fan club presales. Tickets are costly, but if they are your favorite artist you must try your hardest to buy them. We broke down the 5 emotional stages of buying concert tickets.
Emotional Stages Buying Concert Tickets #5 – The Announcement
Your favorite artist announces a tour. You knew it was coming with all the music they’ve been releasing. Now that it is officially announced, you can’t believe it’s happening. You sign up for the verified fan presale, hoping you get a code, and knowing you’re signing up for this because the demand will be overwhelming. You see they are coming to your city and hope and pray you can buy presale tickets.
Emotional Stages Buying Concert Tickets #4 – The Preparation
You know you’re going to buy tickets before even figuring out how to get there, who you are going with, and how much money you will need to transfer. You spend hours researching what the prices were for the last tour, the stage layout, the venue seating chart, and what your outfit is going to be before even having a guaranteed ticket in your hands.
After looking at presale dates and on sale dates, you realize you need to clear your schedule and prepare for war. You may be at work, so have a trusted friend, preferably one you are going to the concert with, who is home on that day to get your login information and buy them for you.
Sometimes, you spend more time preparing for ticket sales than you do buying the tickets.
Emotional Stages Buying Concert Tickets #3 – Logging on to Buy Them
You received your presale code, you know what the stage looks like, the money is in your account, and you’re logged on ready to buy the tickets. You’ve joined the queue and your heart is pounding. You are counting the seconds until they go on sale, making sure your code is right, you have your card number and login information ready.
The time comes and you find out there are only 100 people in front of you. Anxiety is high and your heart is pounding out of your chest until it’s finally your turn.
You check the prices and try to find the best possible tickets. With multiple browsers open, you give yourself a few options. Floor tickets and lower level are the same price, but you might get a better view on Lower Level. What if the artist walks through the crowd? Decisions, decisions.
After weighing all your options, you finally pick your tickets, type in your info as fast as possible, and get the dreaded “Sit tight, while we secure your tickets” message.
#2. Confirming You Got Your Tickets
The confirmation page shows up that says You’re seeing *insert artists name here. * And you make sure the seats, date, and everything else are correct. You make sure you have the tickets before logging off and go to your account to double check. When you see them there, you print them out and breathe a sigh of relief. You did it!
#1. Excitement Kicks In
You realize you’re seeing your favorite singer in the flesh in a few months and excitement kicks in. Now it’s really time to start your outfit preparations, transportation, meal plan, and the countdown. You might start trying to figure out the setlist and tweet the artist that you got tickets and will see them then.
In some cases, tickets sell out and you may not get any to the show, but we like to look on the positive side. Good luck next time you are trying to buy tickets. We are all rooting for you!
