Top 5 Biggest Action Movie Sequels in 2021
I think we can all agree that watching movies at home is perfectly acceptable but when seeing one on the big screen, it can surely make all the difference. Summer movies are exactly for that very reason. The biggest movies on the largest screens accompanied by the largest speakers to give us that true theatrical experience! These five movies are not only highly anticipated but also are sequels to some of the most popular films as well. Let’s count them down and get excited for when these sequels are releasing!
Spider-man 3

Tom Holland is this generations web-slinging hero but more can be said for this third installment of the newest Spider-man franchise. Jon Watts (who directed the last two installments) is returning once again to helm this project. The plot of the film is largely unknown although Tom Holland did reveal that this film would take place during Peter Parker’s senior year in High School. Some additional information has leaked too. Alfred Molina (who portrayed Dr. Octopus is Spider-Man 2) is confirmed to appear in this movie along with Jamie Foxx (who played Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2). There are rumors that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield (both of whom have played the web-slinging hero) are in talks of making an appearance as well. Kraven The Hunter (an iconic villain of Spider-Man) has also been mentioned as being the film’s main antagonist as well. Outside of that, there isn’t much information on this newest Spidey adventure. As of yet, there is no official title but this movie is scheduled to be released on December 17 2021.
The Matrix 4

The Oracle always told us that Neo would be back. The Matrix trilogy was far from perfect but it was one hell of an intriguing idea for the science fiction community. Featuring stunning action sequences, unique costume designs and a kickass soundtrack and well the rest is history. With the announcement of the fourth film, fans were surprised and many were cautioned. It been a number of years seen we last were entered into the program (The Matrix Revolutions was released in 2003) and we can only speculate as to what is going to happen now. With Keanu Reeves, Carrie Ann Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson and Daniel Bernhardt all return for this next installment of the sci-fi franchise. Lana Wachowski (formerly known as Larry Wachowski) is taking the reins solo this time around without her sister Lilly Wachowski. Lana is writing, directing and producing the film and its scheduled to be released on December 22 2021. After all these years, it’s time to hack back into the mainframe.
Fast and Furious 9
I’m not the first to say it, but I don’t think anyone anticipated The Fast and Furious to take off the way it did becoming one of the highest grossing movie franchises of all time! The crew is back at it again and after the events of the eighth film The Fate of the Furious Dom (Vin Diesel) is threatened by Cipher (Charlize Theron) and Dom’s younger brother turned assassin Jakob (John Cena). This family can never have a moments peace it seems. Many familiar faces return include Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Helen Mirren and even one character we all thought died long ago in Tokyo Drift. Justin Lin (who’s directed four film in the franchise) returns for the fifth time in the director’s chair. The film’s script is penned by Lin and Daniel Casey. This marks the first film to not feature Chris Morgan as the film’s screenwriter following The Fate of the Furious and Hobbs & Shaw. The action looks completely over-the-top and utterly insane but that’s why we see these movies in the first place; for pure entertainment. F9 will fly into theaters on May 28 2021.
Godzilla vs Kong
Two iconic monsters will finally duke it out this summer! Not really a remake of the 1962 Japanese film but instead a sequel to Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters; this film serves as the fourth entry in Legendary’s MonsterVerse! Following the events of both previous films, these enormous beasts will meet on the battlefield that is Earth in a battle for the ages! While the previous Godzilla films were a disappointment and Kong: Skull Island was an absolute blast this is a movie that better exceeds expectations for fans of both monsters. With updated special effects, we can only hope to be enthralled seeing these two Titans fight on the big screen. Godzilla vs Kong will be available on stream the day of its theatrical release but who wants to watch that at home? Godzill vs Kong is made for the biggest screen and an audience eager to cheer the whole way through. The battle is set to occur when this movie arrives in theaters on May 21 2021. It’s going to be epic!
No Time To Die
We all know his name. Bond, James Bond. The twenty-fifth film in this incredible franchise and sadly the final bout for Daniel Craig as the 00 Agent. Originally due to release in April of 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has delayed the film an entire year and fans have been eagerly waiting. This film takes places five years after the events of Spectre and sees Bond has left the service only to meet up with an old friend who enlists him to find a missing scientist. It’s here that Bond uncovers a villain whose schemes could see the deaths of millions! This will be the final appearance of Daniel Craig and the infamous British Spy and it’s no doubt that this film will end with a bang. Cary Joji Fukunaga will serve as the film’s director and screenwriter along with Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (who’ve written the last seven Bond films). This marks the first time an American director is directing a Bond movie and also the first to pen the script as well. We’ve waited so long and from the trailers we’ve seen, we are looking forward to see Bond back on the big screen yet again. We’ll miss you Daniel Craig. Thank you for all the good memories!
