Top 5 Harry Potter Quotes
The Harry Potter series has become a cult classic and is still being kept alive today by merchandise, theme parks, Harry Potter marathon weekends, and prequel movies (Fantastic Beasts). The franchise has created some iconic quotes that end up on merchandise, tattoos, and are recited by fans all over the world. Although there are way too many to count, here are the top 5 Harry Potter quotes from the series that we love.
Harry Poter Quotes #5 – “Have a biscuit, Potter.”
Minerva McGonagall, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

For those muggles who have never read the books, you may be confused by this quote. In the 5th book, Harry is trying to tell his Defense Against the Dark Arts class that Voldemort is back, and nobody believes him. Everyone’s least favorite teacher, Professor Dolores Umbridge, sends him to McGonagall’s office as a punishment.
When he gets there, Harry tells her that he shouted at Umbridge and called her a liar. Then she tells him to have a biscuit, basically ignoring the fact that he said that to a teacher because no one likes her.
McGonagall has always been savage and badass and that is one of the many reasons why fans love her so much.
Harry Potter Quotes #4. – “Yer a wizard, Harry.”
Hagrid, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
The line that started it all. Everybody loves Hagrid and knows the way he talks, especially in the books (Yer, summ’n, etc.). He delivers this iconic line and it startles Harry a bit, but soon puts him on an adventure he never dreamed of. They soon travel to Diagon alley to get all the supplies Harry needs to start his new life and get away from his dreaded aunt, uncle, and cousin, the Dursleys.
Potter replies with “I’m a WHAT?” perplexed by the words this giant man who just beat down his door said to him.
Hagrid is such a lovable character that fans would have rioted if anything had happened to him. He might have slipped and told Harry, Ron, and Hermione some things that he shouldn’t, but he always had their backs.
#3. “Why spiders? Why couldn’t it have been follow the butterflies?”
Ron Weasley, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Oh Ron, always the one that makes us laugh with his fear of spiders and goofiness. When Harry and Ron are trying to find what is in the Forbidden Forest, Hagrid tells them to follow the spiders.
They wind up running into Aragog, the massive spider in the forest and Hagrid’s friend, and all of his children. Ron has a straight up panic attack and we do not blame him. Spiders are creepy.
#2 – “But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Dumbledore delivers some of the most iconic, inspirational, quote-worthy, and best quotes, whether it is something that makes you want to cry or words that make you chuckle. We could probably make a whole other article on just Dumbledore quotes.
He says this quotes in the Great Hall while magically lighting a candle off and on with just a wave of his hand.
Dementors are lurking upon Hogwarts and they suck the happiness out of anyone they can. Prisoner of Azkaban (the best in my not so humble opinion) is the first movie to be really dark and forces Harry to grow up because things are getting serious.
This is a great quote to turn to when you are feeling down.
#1 – “Always”
Severus Snape, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
One little word made the entire fandom burst into tears. Snape sends his Patronus, a doe, to help Harry in a time of need. Harry’s mother, Lily’s, Patronus was also a doe. Fans found out that Snape has always (no pun intended) been in love with Lily and even had the same Patronus as her to keep her memory alive.
In a memory that Harry sees, Dumbledore says to Snape. “Severus, after all this time?” and he replies with “Always.” You really see how much of a heart Snape had in that moment and how much love he carried in his heart. Even though he put on a tough exterior.
There are so many legendary Harry Potter quotes from this franchise that many people live by and recite daily.
