British actor Matt Smith can pull off any kind of role he lands.
Before he was an actor, he was very good at football (also known as soccer in the US). Unfortunately due to an injury, he was unable to play anymore. That’s when he got into acting. He is most famous for his time on the hit British TV series, Doctor Who, playing the Eleventh Doctor.

Doctor Who
Doctor Who has been around for decades. It began in 1963 and the last episode was in 1989. The sci-fi show revolves around time traveling and using a blue police box, known as The Tardis, to get to different time periods. In the show, the main character, known as The Doctor, travels space to conquer magical creatures that harm people all over the world. In 2005, the show was rebooted with the 9th Doctor. Every couple of seasons, the Doctor regenerates into another actor. In 2010, Smith was the 11th Doctor for three seasons. During his time as the doctor, he takes two friends, Rory and Amy, on his adventures.
Mapplethorpe
Based on the true story of Robert Mapplethorpe, a famous photographer during the 1970s. Matt Smith stars as Mapplethorpe as the film follows him and his journey to fame with his renowned photos. The film also shows his battle with AIDS.
The Crown
The Netflix original series The Crown follows the events through the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Claire Foy plays Queen Elizabeth II and Matt Smith plays Prince Phillip in seasons 1 and 2. Smith was nominated for best supporting actor for his role as the Duke of Edinburgh at the Primetime Emmy Awards back in 2018.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Following the theme of Jane Austen’s best-selling novel, Pride and Prejudice, this film adds zombies in the mix. The 2016 period piece follows a town that must protect itself from zombies that roam the world. Matt Smith plays Parson Collins, who is hopeful to marry one of the Bennett daughters and also tags along on their quests into zombie territory.
Last Night In Soho
Eloise moves out of her small town and into the big city of London to study fashion. When her roommate situation doesn’t work out, she moves into a small, quiet apartment building. In her new room, when she goes to bed at night, she has intense dreams where she follows around a woman named Sandy, a woman trying to make it big as a singer. Eloise soon realizes that Sandy’s life isn’t as glamorous as she thinks it is. This retro 60’s inspired romance story turns into a dark and terrifying one. Matt Smith plays Jack, the villain of the movie who is portrayed as Sandy’s manager.
