Top 5 Questions We Have About Beauty And The Beast
Disney movies are classic films that we know every word to and will belt out every song with joy. As children, we don’t question some of the plot holes in the stories, we just love the magic and story of it, especially the princess movies.
Now that we’re older and are paying attention more, there are some questions that we don’t know the answer to, like the ones we wondered about from ‘Cinderella.’
‘Beauty & The Beast’ has a lot of unanswered questions, if you’re really paying attention. It’s like the director thought we just wouldn’t notice it.
Here are the top 5 questions we have about ‘Beauty & The Beast.’
How old was the Beast when he was put under the spell?

According to the movie, the Beast was under the spell unless he got true love’s kiss before his 21st birthday, when the last petal of the rose would fall. During the movie, the last petal fell, so did he turn 21? And in the song, “Be Our Guest,” Lumiere sings, “For ten years, we’ve been rusting, needing so much more than dusting.” So, was the beast 11 when he was put under the curse? But then, later in the movie, you see a photo of the Beast in human form and he looks older, like he does at the end of the movie, so did he just stop aging? There are a whole lot of loopholes there.
Why didn’t Chip’s siblings turn back into humans? And where is Mr. Potts?

In the animated version, after the classic dance between Belle and the Beast, Mrs. Potts tells Chip to get into the cupboard with his brothers and sisters. In the end, however, when everyone turns back into humans, Chip is the only teacup to turn into a human. So where did the rest of the kids go? And if they were only able to talk under the spell why did all the furniture come alive? Is human Chip supposed to resemble the prince as his eleven-year-old self? And where is Mr. Potts?
How does the town forget they have a prince and a castle in the woods?

They have to be ruled by someone, right? The villagers don’t think, who lives in this castle in the middle of the woods and where did our monarchy go? Luckily, if you watched the live-action version, it did explain it a bit. Apparently, when the enchantress cursed the Beast, she made the townspeople forget about his home and everyone who lived there. But then when Gaston goes to raid the castle to kill the Beast with the townspeople, he automatically knows where the castle is with no trouble.
What is the Beast’s real name?
This seems to be a pattern for Disney Princess movies. In ‘Snow White,’ the prince is literally dubbed as The Prince, with no given name. Cinderella’s prince was called Prince Charming, but was Charming his last name or did she call him charming because that is what he was? For ‘Beauty & the Beast,’ many people theorize that the prince’s name was Adam, but Disney has said that name was made up by the fans. He is credited as “Beast” in the credits. So, no one really knows what his real name is, probably not even Belle.
Where were the Beast’s parents?

So, whether time stopped or not, the Beast was young enough to still have living parents. You don’t see them or even hear about them at all. If he was eleven when the enchantress came to the door, why was he answering the door at such a young age? He is referred to as prince throughout the movie, so there must be a king and queen, right? The live-action version goes into a bit of detail on it. It is revealed that the Beast’s mom passed away, but we don’t know how, just like Belle’s mom. But even though the Beast may have had a strained relationship with his dad, we still don’t know where he is.
There are so many more questions we have about this film. Sorry, if our questions ruined the movie. What do you wonder about in ‘Beauty & The Beast?’
