Top 5 Questions We Have About Fantastic Beasts 3
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore hit theaters on April 15, 2022. The movie is the third in the franchise, which follows Newt Scamander, a Magizoologist, his creatures and other characters within the Harry Potter universe.
This film focuses on Albus Dumbledore, his family, and the secrets he has held for years while the Wizarding World tries to take down Gellert Grindelwald.
Sadly, The Secrets of Dumbledore has opened to a record-low in the box office for any Harry Potter franchise film.
The low ratings could be due to the fact that Mads Mikkelsen replaced Johnny Depp for his role of Grindelwald. And although the movie answered a lot, there are some questions that we still have.
*This post contains spoilers*
How Did Queenie and Jacob Get Married When The Law Forbids It?
Jacob Kowalski and Queenie Goldstein got married at the end of the film and we have questions. As much as we love the half-wizard, half-no-mag couple, it’s not legal. The film takes place in the 1930s. Rappaport’s Law “enforced strict segregation between the No-Maj and wizarding communities. Wizards were no longer allowed to befriend or marry No-Majs. Penalties for fraternizing with No-Majs were harsh. Communication with No-Majs was limited to that necessary to perform daily activities,” according to Wizard World.
This law was not overturned until the 1960s, so what will happen to Queenie and Jacob. Will they have to move out of New York City and across the ocean?
Is Gellert Grindelwald Dead?
At the end of the film, after a battle between Grindelwald and Dumbledore, he falls over the side of a bridge and appears to disapparate, making many people believe he died. However, any die-hard Harry Potter fan knows that he did not die at that moment because Dumbledore defeated him in 1945.
Also, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Voldemort talks to Grindelwald while in prison when asking about the elder wand. He is the one who kills Grindelwald.
Where Was Nagini?
In the second installment of the film, fans were introduced to Nagini, a maledictus who transforms from a woman to a snake. Most fans know her from the original Harry Potter series as Voldemort’s right-hand woman. She seemed to like Credence and helped him figure out his identity. However, in this film, she was nowhere to be seen nor mentioned.
While there is a real-life reason for her absence-the actress was pregnant and filming took place during a pandemic, so she didn’t want to risk it. It does not explain where she is in the film timeline, however.
Who is Aurelius’ Mother?
Fans found out that Credence Barbone’s real identity is actually Aurelius Dumbledore. No one knew if Grindelwald was lying when he told the obscurus that until this movie. It turns out, yes, he is a Dumbledore, but not in the way we thought. Aurelius is not Albus’ brother, but rather his nephew. His brother, Aberforth, fathered him with an unknown woman. All they said about her was that she lived in Godrick’s Hollow. His aunt was the one who took him on the ship in the second movie, but she died after the ship went down. However, he was switched with another baby, so he survived. Will his mother and aunt be anyone significant or not?
Did Aurelius Die?
At the end of the film, Albus told someone that the phoenix was following Aurelius because he was dying? They also said in the movie that a phoenix follows any Dumbledore who is in need or needs help. One of the last scenes of the film shows Aberforth talking to Aurelius, and they hugged. He seemed to be feeling better at that moment and not like he was dying anymore. He did not die in the end, so is he better because he finally felt love, or will the end of the franchise be the end of Aurelius?
