Top 5 Musical Collaborations of 2020
2020 brought us so much music, some of the best music ever. Singers teamed up to collaborate on songs that will forever be in our playlists. Some big artists gave us all the feels when they released songs together.
From radio hits to tiktok dances, these songs consumed our lives this year and gave us something to dance to and turn to in times of frustration that this year brought.

“Rain on Me” by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande
Two powerhouse pop queens, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, teamed up for a collaboration you wouldn’t soon forget. “Rain on Me” is a single from Gaga’s sixth album, Chromatica. The upbeat, dance song is about being able to keep going even through the hard times. It reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was the first female collaboration to debut at number one. The song is currently nominated for a Grammy and won three VMAs.
“WAP” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion
Female collaborations were taking over in 2020. Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B teamed up for “WAP.” It is the lead single to Cardi B’s upcoming second studio album. The song debuted at number one of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “WAP” broke the record for the largest opening streaming week for a song in US history. Several publications named it the best song of the year. The song won an AMA and a PCA.
“X” by Jonas Brothers and KAROL G
After reuniting last year, The Jonas Brothers didn’t stop releasing music. “X” was one of four singles that the brothers released this year. They collaborated with Latin artist, KAROL G, who sings in Spanish in the song and really gives it that Latin flair. The single is thought to be off of the band’s upcoming, yet to be announced album. “X” became so popular, a tiktok dance was made for it.
“Savage Remix” by Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce
Megan Thee Stallion had a great year. She was topping the charts and was all over tiktok. Back in April, she decided to collaborate with the queen Beyonce. The song was featured on Megan’s debut album, Good News. All of the proceeds from it to went to the Bread of Life Houston’s COVID-19 relief funds. The Grammy nominated song became a tiktok challenge, where many people were shaking their hips to it.
“Ice Cream” by BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez
The K-Pop group teamed up with pop star, Selena Gomez, for a refreshing song. “Ice Cream” is the second single off BLACKPINK’s debut album, The Album. The song was nominated for a PCA and an EMA. Rolling Stone ranked it in their top 50 songs of the year. The song debuted and peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Ice Cream” is the longest charting song by an all-Korean female group.
