I aspire to be one of those people who visit Disney World more than once a year. I imagine it will happen at some point if I put it out to the Universe. When I share this desire with people, I always get the response, “Why? Wouldn’t you get sick of it?’” and the answer is always no. Attractions at Disney World are ALWAYS evolving. New things are always being added or changed, and these changes are totally worth experiencing. Just this summer, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opened up in both Disneyland and Disney World, and it was a whole new galactic world that was placed inside Disney Parks. And we can’t forget the opening of Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
There’s plenty more exciting attractions coming soon to Disney World that makes the FOMO (fear of missing out) way more valid than ever before. They’ve all been announced at Disney’s 2019 D23 Expo.
Like, hello, the park’s very FIRST roller coaster that launches you backwards is about to be opened in a couple of years. So, grab a Disney Annual Pass, and don’t miss out on what’s to come!
Disney World Attractions: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

The first Mickey themed ride will be making its way to Toontown Disneyland and Hollywood Studios at Disney World. The attraction will be up and running next year at Hollywood Studios in the Chinese Theater.
The Chinese Theater used to house The Great Movie Ride from May 1989 up until August 2017. But as always, Disney Parks is always looking to make changes, and sometimes that means taking away fan favorites.
To be honest, I think this change may just be worth it. Going from a slow moving ride that honored popular movies of years passed, to honoring Mickey Mouse cartoons is definitely something the park could use.
According to the official Disney Parks Blog, “Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway puts you inside the wacky and unpredictable world of Disney Channel’s Emmy Award-winning ‘Mickey Mouse’ cartoon shorts! Once you step into the cartoon world of Mickey and Minnie, you’ll board a train with Goofy as the engineer. Then, one magical moment after the next leads you to a zany, out-of-control adventure filled with surprising twists and turns.”
Cirque du Soleil at Disney World

The Cirque du Soleil theater is located at Disney Springs West Side. Starting Spring 2020, Cirque du Soleil will be putting on a spectacular show honoring Disney Animation.
The folks of Walt Disney Animation, Walt Disney Imagineers and Cirque du Soleil will all be working together to ensure this show is as magical as it sounds. The stage is designed as an animator’s desk and combines the thrilling performances of acrobatic acts with Disney animations.
“This love letter to the heART of Disney animation transports you in a celebration of life and all of its deliberate, unanticipated movements of Cirque du Soleil’s acrobatic mastery.”
This is one of the most anticipated Disney World attractions.
Mary Poppins at United Kingdom Pavilion in Epcot

“Cherry Tree Lane” will be appearing at Epcot’s United Kingdom Pavilion, honoring the beloved Mary Poppins. The news was announced at Disney’s D23 Expo during the Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products panel.
As you make your way down Cherry Tree Lane, you’ll also be able to step into the Banks’ house.
Since the premiere of Mary Poppins Returns, Disney has had an interest in making Mary Poppins a part of the Disney World. Originally there was a rumor going around about a Mary Poppins flat ride but that alleged idea evolved into the Cherry Tree Lane addition.
Journey of Water inspired by Moana

Also joining the Epcot line up is ‘Journey of Water Inspired by Moana’. This will be the first Moana themed attraction in Disney Parks. With this exciting new walk through attraction, you will be able to interact with actual water, just like Moana was able to.
There hasn’t been any more details announced, but so far it sounds fascinating.
Journey of Water is set to open in 2021.
Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind

Part of the reimagination of Epcot, Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind will be the first reverse launch roller coaster.
You will be sitting in 360 degree rotating coaster cars and launched backwards into “space.” The action packed ride will allow you to experience whatever is oncoming in all directions. Your journey will begin in the Galaxarium, a planetarium that explores the complex galaxy of Earth and Xandar. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about Xandar and all it’s treasures.
There is no exact date for this Disney World attraction’s opening but rumors say it may be aiming for 2021.
