Now, that Disney announced the reboot of “Lizzie McGuire” and you can stream all of the episodes on Disney Plus, it is a great time for a binge watch. Re-watching one of the best series to have ever aired on Disney Channel, some people may have forgotten that there were a lot of celebrity guest star appearances on Lizzie McGuire.
They may have been subtle characters that you saw in the background or part of a bigger plot. Either way, when they showed up on your screen, you might have squealed a little bit. Here are the top 5 guest star appearances on “Lizzie McGuire.”
Lizzie McGuire Guest Star – Steven Tyler
Tyler stars as himself and Santa Claus in the episode, “Xtreme Xmas.” Lizzie wants to win the grand prize in the Christmas parade for her idea of a rock n roll Christmas float, on which Tyler performs “Santa Claus is Comin to Town”.
Lizzie and Gordo give away Matt’s toys at a charity drive, which has an unlikely looking (young and skinny) Santa, played by Tyler.
Lizzie McGuire Guest Star – Haylie Duff
Hilary’s sister, Haylie, of course had to make a few appearances in her sister’s show. She played Kate Sanders’ cousin, Amy. She was just as much a stuck-up snob as Kate was. Guess it ran in the family. Haylie appeared in season 1, episode 30, “Gordo’s Video” and season 2, episode 20, “Xtreme Xmas.”
In “The Lizzie McGuire Movie” when Lizzie and Isabella are singing ‘(This Is) What Dreams Are Made Of’ at the end, Haylie lends her voice for Isabella’s parts, even though both characters are played by Hilary. So, she had a bigger role than some might think.
Lizzie McGuire Guest Star – Frankie Muniz
Muniz plays himself in the episode “Lizzie in the Middle” (season 2, episode 15). He comes to town to shoot his new movie and becomes friends with Lizzie which puts a strain on her friendship with Gordo and Miranda.
The actors later went on to star in “Agent Cody Banks” together and eventually dated for almost two years.
Before her acting career took off, a very young Sara Paxton appeared in season 1, episode 9 called ‘Election’ of “Lizzie McGuire.” She played the outgoing, perky class president and was inducting the new class president, which turned out not to be Lizzie or the popular kids.
Fun fact: Paxton was actually considered for the role of Lizzie before Hilary Duff got it. Crazy, right?
The singer played himself shooting a music video. Lizzie and Miranda got to star in the music video after sneaking onto the set and meeting him. It was rumored at that time that Duff and Carter were dating in real life. However, that relationship didn’t last very long. We will forever have the iconic “I Want Candy” Christmas themed video to look back on. Our 2000’s hearts felt the nostalgia big time.
