There are two types of people in the world. Those who celebrated this last fourth of July grilling, swimming, and watching fireworks light up the night sky. And then there are those who spent their Independence Day binge-watching the latest season of Netflix’s hit show, Stranger Things. If you’re reading this, you’re most likely the latter. And if so, you probably also have many questions after that final episode, once the screen cut to black. You’re not alone, so here are the top 5 questions all Stranger Things fans are wondering after the latest season.
Warning. There will be spoilers.
Stranger Things Questions – Is Hopper alive?
Our hearts sank when Hawkins’s chief of police perished in the finale episode of season 3. However, fans have speculated that he is actually alive.
This wouldn’t be the first time the writers of Stranger Things faked a major character’s death. Though Will Byers was discovered dead in the fourth episode, it was later revealed that he was alive in the Upside Down. So could the same thing happened to Hopper? We never actually see a body when Joyce leaves the control room and enters the chamber after they close the gate between our world and the Upside Down.
This raises a few red flags. If he’s not dead, where could he have possibly gone? Theories have claimed that he’s either locked away in the Russian prison from the credit scene, awaiting execution. Demogorgon style. You even hear some guards in this scene referring to an unseen individual as the “American”.
Or could he be lost in the Upside Down?
Either way, we’re hoping that that emotional letter to Eleven wasn’t the last time we’ll hear from him.
Stranger Things Questions – What will bring Eleven’s powers back?
Eleven has been everyone’s savior in times of crisis throughout the show. She singlehandedly defeated a pair of schoolyard bullies and the Demogorgon in season one and closed the portal to the Upside Down in season two.
She’s the powerful protector of Hawkins, so it was quite a shock that she lost her gift after a violent and gruesome experience with the Mind Flayer in this most recent season. It’s clear, she’s too weak to fight but even after the Mind Flayer is gone, she still is unable to channel her telekinetic powers.
There’s no doubt that her powers will be restored by the next season, but what will trigger it? Will they come back naturally or will she be forced to save her friends when all hell breaks loose? We’ll just have to wait until season 4 premieres.
Stranger Things Questions – What were the Russians doing with the Demogorgon?
We’ve seen many monsters throughout the course of this show, all somehow even more terrifying and gruesome than the last. This most recent one may take the cake, but if you stuck around for that post-credit scene after those heartfelt goodbyes between the Byers family and their friends, you would have caught that last shot of the Demogorgon.
Who is still very much alive despite the past events of the first season.
What exactly is the monster doing locked up in our world and what are the Russians hoping to do with it?
Where’s the Byers family headed now?
The Byerses have been through the wringer. From Will’s disappearance to Bob and Hopper’s deaths, Joyce realizes that there is nothing for them in Hawkins. But seeing them leave their friends behind is a truly heartbreaking scene.
We can’t help but wonder where they’re headed and what’s in store for them in this next chapter of their lives.
Will Nancy and Jonathan stay together? What’s the fate of El and Mike’s relationship? Both couples have come a long way after all.
We’ll find out in a year or two when the next season premieres.
Will we see more of Suzie next season?
On a much lighter note, we finally see Dustin get the girl of his dreams— Suzie. The team would not have been able to stop the Mind Flayer if it weren’t for her. It’s safe to say that she’s perfect for Dustin. And also one hell of a brainiac.
So this raises the question. Will we see more of Suzie and Duston’s adorable relationship?
